In October 2021, at our first-ever FrankenPride celebration, St Pete Pride took over two blocks of Central Ave. as part of the car-free Halloween on Central event.
FrankenPride was designed with the intention of creating a space for LGBTQ+ families and allies to celebrate Halloween together, especially those with children 12 and younger. There were plenty of activities to keep them entertained! Between two massive rainbow arches, we sponsored a Haunted House at the VFW for families to explore, we had a dance floor on the rainbow-painted street with a monster DJ, and shared performances by vogueing mummies, cabaret witches, and spooky drag queens like Jay Miah and Miss. St Pete Pride Ashlee Bangx. Little ones could make ghost lollipops at a hands-on kids table sponsored by ShorecrestPride.
FrankenPride was a day of candy, costumes, and community. Families came out in an amazing array of coordinated ensembles and individual characters. From Cruella with her Dalmatians and the witches of Hocus Pocus to Spiderman and skeletons, everyone dressed in the spirit to celebrate! It was a beautiful day spent on a street full of smiling faces.
